Ploughmans CC vs Battersea Ironsides CC (Home) Sat 20th April 2019

Match Report

The season has begun! The Plough arrived at DSG like excited school girls eager to get out there and show that last year was certainly no fluke! On a glorious afternoon it was a no brainer to bat first and that is what we did after winning the toss.

We started well with Niraj showing the form he brought to Lords nets and Britto doing what he does year in, year out. With runs coming a little slow, plus the regular fall of wickets, we did well to reach a very defendable total of 143-7 off our 40 overs. Both Tisato and Britto top scoring with 31 each. A mention too must go to Uncle Stephenson who claimed a flowing 5 not out batting up the order and looking solid – at one point claiming he had already out scored himself from last season in total!

A great tea was had and we were ready to blow them away with our terrific bowling attack and the much anticipated debut of bowler Steve Tsonas.

Right from the start both Liam Earl Gray and Tsonas found their rhythm claiming early and regular wickets, at one point having Ironsides down to 43-6. It was lucky our bowlers were so brilliant as we managed to put down every single catch that came our way in the field. Having the top 7 all bowled made for a delightful looking scorebook though! Special mention to Steve Tsonas claiming what must be record holding debut figures or 5-9 off his 8 overs! Helping us to bowl them out for 111 and to claim our first win (of many) this season!

God it’s good to be back isn’t it!?!?

Man of the match: STEVE TSONAS

Dick of the day: LIAM EARL GRAY – for moving fine leg into the slips and then bowling the next 5 balls to the leg side and be clipped for runs each time.

Ploughon!

Freddie
