Match Report
On a beautiful summer’s Sunday morning I wandered to Dulwich to watch the Sunday Casuals beat Clapham Inn CC.
After meeting the Bush for Brunch (you did the in the summer but not now it seems), we ventured towards Dulwich. On the way we met James Tisato and hist wife Hannah (Bush’s parents – I don’t know the details, ask him). She’s not even a Tisato…..
Anyway with pints in hand we walked to the Hollies…. To see the club’s no 1 leg spinner Harry Davies injured…… again.
One of us had to play and with the oppo 90 for none we went for the guy in the club with the best bowling strike rate – me……. Cheers Bush enjoy your beer.
As I entered the field Spence told me of dropped catches off his bowling etc etc…. I then saw about half a dozen for myself.
Long John was on and bowling well. He seemed to put away the slower ball that day and as no one on the PCC side could catch went for the bowled and LBW approach. He bagged 3 for in one of the most impressive spells I’ve seen all year.
Niraj plugged away with his elbow spin containing the oppo. Duray and Fred both bowled their big mans off spin very well taking 5 wickets between them….
So from 90 for none off 17 overs we restricted Clapham to 183 off 40 overs. A solid effort.
Tea was ok….
Our reply started badly with Nikki running out Posh Tom for a duck without facing…. Think you owe him a beer mate.
Nikki was solid yet seemed paralysed to score a running making 5 off 48 balls (maybe he wanted to emulated Liam Gray at Croydon A) or maybe he’s cricketing hero is Ally Ally COOK.
At 42-3 off 18 overs I came in to support Silva who was already on 20. I’d like it know that I was wearing none of my own kit including Freddie’s youth box….. he must like a snug fit. Anyway we put on 80 and Silva was excellent with drive cuts and pulls. We set a platform.
Silva has been great all year with bat, ball and in the field and today he registers his second 50 for the Plough. He was finally out for a well compiled 64 with 9 fours.
Duray and Fred (the large off spinners club) then literally smashed us to victory in the way only the can with Duray taking 20 odd off an over….
We won and drank a few beers (Silva didn’t buy a jug).
