Ploughmans CC vs SW United CC (Home) Sun 12th July 2020

Match Report

I must confess I do not know the name of the team we played today, Sunday 12th July, only that they are from Putney.

It was a beautifully sunny afternoon at DSG and I was very excited to be returning to the PCC fold for my first game (but 266th overall – thanks Noodle!) in 4 years.  The Club has clearly changed hugely in my time away, and for the better!

It was good to talk debauchery with Simon, lick Adam’s ear, stroke Tom’s thigh and meet friends old and new.

No idea who won the toss, but we batted first.  Stu looks a fine batsman, and he will be missed as he’s returning home to Oz.  Stevo and Stu started well, and Chris then came in and looked classy and solid. We probably were a little behind a par score but Bob batted really well, and then Tom and I upped the tempo at the end, setting the Putney team a competitive 170ish.

Tea was a twirl and a prawn mayo sandwich.

Stu opened the bowling with Liam.  Stu is sharp and accurate.  Liam is deceptive.  I am sorry for dropping one catch and not quite getting to another Liam x. Kesh (what a lovely chap and very good to meet you too) kept very tidily.

Tom and I rolled back the years to bowl some quite exquisite seam bowling.  The 2 new lads Rahul and “Banj” looked very promising – both getting their first wickets for the club.

But star marks must go to Nige for his maiden 5fer for the Plough.  Well done mate!

We won convincingly.  James (another magnificent chap) scored very neatly 🙂

God I love this Club xx
