Match Report
Saturday saw Ploughmans at top of the table Park Hill a team we beat twice last season. Having everyone there 30 minutes before the start time took the admin stress away. The rain during the week suggested a bowl first option…. I called tails and failed…. We were batting…
Like most plans it needed a few things to go our way. We opened with Tisato and Lilford…. I assumed we would get more extras that way with the left/right handed opening partnership and Chris is due a few…. Third ball Chris loses his off stump and the oppo opener proceeds to bowl 5 overs one for 6.
Paddy and Tisato then perform well to put on a steady 55 runs against very consistent bowling. Paddy out LBW (sore toe picture on WhatsApp group). James continues with Bala to somewhat repair things. Bala hits a beautiful 6 but scoring was tough on a wet wicket against bowlers who bowled a consistent line and length. Britto joined Tisato and continued to tick along. Park Hill?s annoying older bowler is nearing the end of his spell and his final ball is a wide down leg side. The additional delivery is probably the best all of his spell beating Nissan through the gate for a well made 55 (he makes another 50 and isn?t involved in run out – progress).
Not much else to report as PCC is bowled out for 149 in 43 overs (only 10 fours and 2 sixes)..
A good tea is taken rated 7/10 the highlight being sausage sandwiches. My personal highlight was when Bala asked Lilford what was on the Pizza??? “Tomato and ????? Cheese” I believe was the response.
Anyway onto the field we galloped in search of early wickets?? Spencer bowled we appealed it was given not out and paddy went nuts?? (well it was out). It was so out that they apologised afterwards. We dropped too many to defend 150, 5 I think. We all need to concentrate more when we field and be more self-sufficient. We accrued our first wicket with about 30 on the board, Lilford rewarded for a good spell with an excellent slip catch by Nissan.
Our only other wicket came through Bee’s excellent spell which has become his norm, 7 overs 1 for 13 I believe with another good catch by Nissan at slip. If we get back to making big scores his consistency will serve us well.
Small mention to Harry Davies who, fresh from working his way through the complete Aussie dorm in India was back in the field for the plough. He bowled pretty well without much luck.
In truth, we didn?t make enough runs to force a very good Park Hill Side to take risks against our consistent bowling attack.
ONWARDS?. Plough on
