Ickenham CC v Ploughmans CC (Away) Sat 9th September 2017

Match Report

This Saturday saw the mighty ploughmen embark on a long journey to Ickenham. Upon arrival we met our overseas pro (Harsh Suri) and 2 new fine additions (Akash and Naman)

After Duray won the toss and elected to bowl firsts the Plough?s lower order batsmen were pleased as they knew they could enjoy a larger tea. With Bolshaw and Grayzer opening up, the plough started off well and enjoyed some low scoring overs. With Bolshaw narrowly missing the outside edge with his outswingers he perfected whilst outside Britto?s house, he eventually managed to swing one to smash the stumps. Wickets slowly fell and Leon decided to make things harder for himself by only performing stumping?s by throwing the ball behind him. With Spence chipping in with a wicket, Duray decided to utilize his 4 man spin bowling attach on a swinging wicket. With some great bowling by Harry to soften up the batsmen, Ajit Prasad (superstar) came on and removed Father Christmas from the crease. Akash also chipping in with some slow left arm spin, the plough started to come on top.

Some heroic batting from the 14year old Ickenham player (who was using a girls bat) saw the opposition accumulate the runs with some terrific sweep shots (we need to sign this kid up). Bolshaw decides then he will come on and claim the wickets of the innocent youngsters of Ickenham.

Chasing 170 to win Harsh and Britto take to the crease and give the away team a strong and stable start. Despite Harsh losing his wicket rather early (quite a long way to travel for that) Naman came to the crease and amazed everyone with his temperament and fantastic placement. With ploughman cruising, pressure is put back on Ickenham, which allowed some of the youngsters to step up to the mark and impress the Plough with some top notch fielding. Grayzer comes to the crease to close the innings with a 6 because he is a lad which allowed Ploughmans to registered a 6 wicket victory

Credit to the home team for allowing the youngsters to be heavily involved and for the fantastic hospitality we received

We later realized our very own Matt Spence has a Paddington bear fetish and Duray missed his flight to Germany.

Also it should be recorded that Ajit Prasad won the longest throw competition (nice try Spence)

Nice work chaps

Ajit Prasad
