Ploughmans CC v Baker Street Irregulars CC (Home) Sun 24th April

Match Report

Sunday was an altogether more comprehensive affair with Ploughmans CC blasting through Baker Steet Irregulars CC in under an hour, then knocking off the runs for the loss of just 1 wicket. The game was played on Wandsworth Common on a track that can only be described as a pudding. I actually lost the toss but the Baker Street skipper, astonishingly, elected to bat, probably sealing their fate right there. We opened the bowling with Tom Lonnen and Matt Ridgway and wickets started falling immediately. Both bowled 4 overs with Mathew taking 2 wickets for 5 runs, and Tom 3 for 6.? Those two were replaced by Aruran Morgan and myself, Ruru taking 1 wicket for 11 runs off 4 overs, and me, 1 for 3 off 2. Nigs Stephenson and Duray wrapped-up proceedings taking one apiece. Baker Street Irregulars all out for 50 runs.

In reply we opened our batting with Paul Hynes and Leon Parks. Paulie made relatively short work of the bowling, smashing a short order 36, which included five 4?s and two 6?s, before being caught at square. This brought in Kev Chau who eventually hit the winning run. Leon 11 not out, Kev 1 not out.

It was all over by 3.30pm so we repaired to the pub across the road to assist the Baker Street lads in drowning their sorrows!
