Match Report
We turned up to some end of the world type weather on Saturday. Chances of play looked slim, despite the rather comical efforts of opposition to get a couple of tarpaulins on the wicket.
Eventually the weather cleared and the game was reduced to 35 overs.
We started well, very well, tight bowling and very few boundary balls. More rain tried to scupper our early good work. However, it was a passing shower and we were back on in 15 minutes. The boys were excellent, each and every man was on it from the start and never let up. The only dropped catches would have been screamers. Most notably in the field I must mention Leon’s outstanding take way down leg. Also, both Ovens and Matt Ridgway made direct hits to claim runouts. Matt?s being particularly athletic (no he hasn’t paid me to say that!) Brilliant bowling all round:
Ross: 7 overs 26 runs 2 wickets
Matt: 7 overs 15 runs 0 wickets
Grant: 5 overs 25 runs 0 wickets
Roo Roo: 7 overs 26 runs 0 wickets
DC: 7 overs 20 runs 4wickets
We had them 119-8 at tea.
After Leon was out early lbw things calmed down and Paulie (38) and Ovens (38*) batted well to take us close. Unfortunately, Paulie was out before he could see it out.
I came in at number 4 and aided Ovo to the end (even if I didn?t let him reach his 50 with 15 to win, sorry Ovo, football was on!)
We got the runs comfortably within 23 overs and were back in time for the match!
With this being the most complete performance I have witnessed from a Plough team I must stress that we need to keep these standards high. Too often we are happy to drift through games and they can get away from us. Saturday saw us dominate from start to finish and showed us how good we can really be. Keep that up!
Well done all.
